古人常以各类花，竹的成长特性，诉诸其顺应自然规律的生长，将莲花般清净脱俗，竹子般坚韧常青的精神展示予世人。《华严经》曰:“佛土生五色茎，一花一世界，一叶一如来”。借此来说明世间虽小，但要学会以小见大，不束缚于“小"”，从“小”中洞见大境界。
